NICHOLE' C. GATEWOOD

ABOUT NICHOLE'

Nicholé is a seasoned attorney, legal advisor, and appellate advocate with

significant experience handling all stages of civil litigation before the state and federal courts. Over time, she has extended her practice to include estate planning and business entity formation. With nearly 20 years of experience, Nicholé draws from her broad legal knowledge to explore and develop unconventional but real-world workable solutions. As a zealous and tenacious advocate, Nicholé is committed to educating each client on all their options. She prides herself on providing each client with a safe, judgment-free zone to be fully heard and transparently discuss their goals and needs.

After spending more than a decade advising and defending agencies and observing the lack of attention and quality resources available to non-governmental clients, Nicholé founded Gatewood & Associates, LLC. Nicholé served as an Assistant Attorney General representing multiple state government agencies in state and federal proceedings. In addition to her expertise in law enforcement liability defense and constitutional violations, she has provided counsel and representation on a variety of complex matters including civil rights, prosecutorial defense, torts, personal injury, business, and election law.

She also served as a law clerk to the Hon. Chief Judge Robert M. Bell of the Maryland Court of Appeals, the highest court in Maryland. Nicholé received her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore, with honors, and an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame of Maryland University (formerly the College of Notre Dame of Maryland), with honors.

Committed to leadership and community development, Nicholé is active in several professional and community organizations. She serves as the Immediate President-Elect of the Maryland Chapter of the Federal Bar Association; the first woman of color elected to serve as President of the Alumnae and Alumni Council of Notre Dame of Maryland University in its 127-year history; President of the Hillsdale Heights Neighborhood Association, and on the boards of the Forest Park Action Council and the Forest Park Alliance.
